It’s all but confirmed: iTunes is being flushed down the toilet after nearly two decades of serving music fans. It was announced in 2001, and release widely along with the iTunes Music Store in 2003. Since then, streaming has replaced and dominated in the way that digital downloads used to, so farewell my old friend, this one’s for you and for my childhood.

    Beyond ARTV says:

Bidding a sad farewell to an a truly groundbreaking music platform & store that brought music to millions. Remember, they can’t delete iTunes if you already have it on a COMPUTER but the store will no longer work soon. RIP iTunes!

Oh, and here's that old episode of SOS from 2013 about my most played songs in iTunes that I mentioned: https://youtu.be/6C_DkR6k33k

    Lipstick Chateau Wine Color says:

When you're an Android user lol

    ryebread07 says:

Apple just continues to kills itself, and killing iTunes is… sad. I was never afraid to pay money to listen to my favorite albums, and I did for a long time until I got Apple Music since money and school hate each other. The first album I bought was What Separates Me From You by A Day To Remember, and now I technically won’t “own” it, in a way.

    Versatile Lord says:

Damn so how am I gonna get jay z’s classic albums on my Apple Music library if iTunes is shutting down?
Not paying for fucking tidal lol

    Kayla Levay says:

First Itunes song was something from the Mew Mew Power soundtrack. I still buy…er…bought Itunes stuff in 2019 because I do videos, where I have music in the background. I really can't drag a spotify song in FCPX, it dosen't work that way…

    Kamil says:

I'm not and will not pay for spotify sorry… I still use iTunes player and will I have and love my iPod 160GB and for me I buy CDs of my fav artists anyway but the new "bosses" of Apple are well let's say it simple as they are… dumb AF…

    Clifford LeDuc Vaillancourt says:

That fucking sucks! I WANT to buy my music. iTunes is the only place I ever buy music from except record stores and I don’t listen to the physical CDs I buy, I just collect them and listen to the digital copy that I bought ON ITUNES!! I’m extremely angry over this I feel like a big part of my life is being taken away.

    Umit Sever says:

Really my songs are on there im sticking with spotify

I'm gonna steal all your food and eat it too says:

Call me old fashioned but I'm still using iTunes and my iPod :/

    John Ricotta says:

This can't be real. I've had way too many memories using ITunes throughout my younger years.

    carlos i guess says:

my first purchase on itunes was Violent Things by The Brobecks… then all of The Strokes discography. this was all in 2015

    Trevor Cleverley says:

    You’re sad. I’m livid!

    waddupdudes says:

Will the songs that I have on my iTunes still be available? Should I back them up on something like an external harddrive?

    LegendBTV says:

    Emmi McDonnell says:

I definitely think it’s a mistake to do this. Yes streaming is becoming bigger but not everyone (myself included) can afford Spotify premium or Apple Music
